I belong to a normal middle-class family and I have all that a middle-class kid used to get. My parent worked hard to gave me everything, I ever wished for, but my mom keep asking me to do more and get more hard working. Focus on your studies and other day to day work.
But whenever she told me these kinds of things, my father used to say that once he will get the vision then he will know how to work hard to achieve that. And my mom says when will that time come, when my son really know the importance of the hard earned money, he so easily send.
After few days I found a dollar in our back yard and I was very happy. I send it all playing video games eating sweets with my friends and all. Next day the same thing happened, a dollar in our backyard and i did the same. This thing used to happens on daily bases and i am sending much more even than my pocket money. I suddenly became a hero to my friend as we are having party every day, when one day after a month there is no more dollar I found in the backyard. I waited for long, but nothing. Again next day I found nothing by this I get depressed. Now all friends are gone, no more lavish living, nothing. I am very sad and sitting in my room. And my dad came
FATHER: I kid what happened, why are you so sad.
ME: Nothing dad, nothing you can help with.
FATHER: Tell me, might be i can
So, I tell him all the story, about getting dollar daily in the backyard and send it all day in playing games and parting with friends. But now there is nothing, no more dollar, No Games, No More Friends
then the father said with a smile
FATHER: Listen, son the dollars which you found in the backyards were placed there by me.
ME (with shocking expression) what you did that, Why?
FATHER: To teach you a lesson. A lesson to give you vision and how to do hard work to achieve that.
Me: I don't understand. What you trying to say.
FATHER: Whenever me and your mom say to you do hard work, focus on your studies and do some job. You do not listen, because you have all that you want. We fulfil your wishes and you don't have to think where it all came from.
Me: So, why did you did the backyard dollar thing.
FATHER: To give you Vision.
ME: What, I do not understand
FATHER: Yes, When you get a dollar, you started to get if spend. Playing games, earning friends, Parting and all that. but you didn't care, where it came from. The all lavish life you were living is came from that dollar. And you have to have this dollar in your pocket to live such kind of life
Now, You have a vision (how to live lavishly) and target (a Dollar) for which you have to do hard work. How you hard work in studies and get a better life afterwards. And meanwhile if you like you can do small jobs like newspaper delivery and helping other to earn small right now.
ME: Dad you are awesome, you opened my eyes. Now i will do hard work and make myself an earner.
